In August 2025, I initiated this R&D exploration to test the boundaries of a fully hybrid creative pipeline. ‘Abuelas’ covers the entire lifecycle of a production—from initial ideation and scriptwriting to visual generation and final VFX—by blending generative AI with traditional high-end compositing techniques.
I designed this workflow to treat AI as a creative catalyst rather than a final output. I used AI to rapidly iterate through visual variations and generate base assets, which I then refined through manual animation and professional VFX. This allowed me to maintain absolute control over the rhythm, tone, and narrative structure. The project proves that when AI is integrated into a disciplined production framework, it doesn’t replace the artist—it scales their ability to deliver high-fidelity storytelling at a fraction of the traditional cost.
